Cathodic Protection is an economical method for controlling correction. Same of the mixed oxides(ruthenium,Ilridium,tantalum etc) have the ability to form a soild solution with the oxide film on titanium/niobium and render conductive.

Mixed Metal Oxide(MMO) coatings on Titanium is the ideal option where oxygen evolution is expected at the anode surface.
